Friars Clinch Regular Season Championship

Art Kelly’s super scoring show of 16 points proved the difference in the 4-8   Kelly Construction Scarlet Knight’s 25 over 19 triumph over the 4-8 Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels. The Tar Heels showcased a well-balanced offense as 5 players scored. DJ Pantry, Martin Walker, and Shane Clark led the attack.

Eleven players scored on the floor in a closely contested contest in which the 5-7 A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine squeaked by the 3-9 Carmody Landscaping Cowboys 23-22. Chris Molster led the Cowboys offensively with 12 points, while Mike Stewart netted 2.

The 6-6 Tom & Pat’s Pizza Running Rebels played determined ball, but could not get past the undefeated 12-0 WH Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars. Josh Moncrieffe was the top scorer for the Friars with 10 points. Trevon Smith, JT Thomas, and Al Dearborn led the Rebels offensively with a combined total of 10 points. With the win The Friars clinched the regular season championship, and will be the one seed in the tournament.

The Wizard Painting Yellow Jackets improved to 6 and 6, stinging the 0-12 Johnnie’s Grille Hoyas 17 to 4. Sean Jefferson and Anthony Begley netted baskets for the Hoyas.

The 9-3 Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers defeated the 3-9 Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers 25 to 12. 8 players hit baskets for the Hoosiers, led by Raymond Price and Austin Ormrod. Tome O’Brown carried the Tigers offensively with 10 points. The Hoosiers will take the fourth seed in the tournament.

The Eagles secured the three seed with a 19-18 win. Karl Jackson led the 10-2 Saley Service Eagles in their win against the Baybrook Remodeling Wildcats. Victor Rios also contributed, scoring 6 points, while CJ Arpino netted two. Derek Baker scored 4 for the 6-6 Wildcats, and Kawon Hicks contributed with 3.

The 11-1 Bender Showcase Blue Devils secured the two seed for the upcoming tournament with a strong defensive game led by Sean Morrissey, Jason Heon and Tremain Cox. Joe Steinman sparkled offensively with 11 points to secure the win against the 7-5 Huskies 19 to 13. Jamal Pate scored 8 for the Huskies. while Tom Smith and Alec Kinder also banged in baskets.

The playoff tournament will begin Sunday March 13th with games at 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, and 4:00pm all at Mackrille School. The regular season finishes Saturday March 12th. For a complete schedule please visit our website @ www.whfb.org.


Friars Continue to Dominate

The Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers defeated the A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine 22-14. Toma O’Brown led the Tigers with 16 points. Zaman Alford shot for 4 and sparkled defensively. Sebastian Pelos had a good defensive and offensive game, scoring 7 points. Eddie Brooks scored 3.

The Saley Service Eagles conquered the Kelly Construction Scarlet Knights 22-11. Karl Jackson had an all-around great game, and scored 12 points. Victor Rios shot for 2, while Naz Lawrence had a good game. Art Kelly Led the Knights offensively with 6. Dan Collins chipped in 2 points.

In a very close game, the Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers beat the Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels 18-17. Austin Ormrod and David Christoforo had 4 points apiece. Jake Lutters scored 3, and Ben Carroll shot for 2. DJ Pantry scored 5 for the Tar Heels, and Jaleel Black netted 4 points.

The WH Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars overpowered the Johnnie’s Grille Hoyas 22-9. Tomarko Oates had a great game, and scored 14 points. Tyler Jones scored 2 points and played a solid defensive game. Chris Bradley chipped in 2.  Sahisien McQueen scored 7 for the Hoyas. Logan Brown shined defensively.

The Huskies won against the Wizard Painting Yellow Jackets in a close game of 25-22. Jamal Pate scored 12 points, followed by Matt Sager who had 5. Josh Hronis netted 4 points. Matthew Duncanson led the Yellow Jackets offensively with 13 points. Jason Sawicki scored 4, and Jonah Basilucato chipped in 3.

The Tom & Pat’s Pizza Running Rebels beat the Baybrook Remoldeling Wildcats 26-21. JT Thomas shined offensively, and scored 8 points. Trevon Smith shot for 6, and CJ Cappola scored 4. The Wildcats had good team defense in the 1st quarter. Ant Lyons had 5 points, while Chris Hanania and Aaron Kirby had 2 points apiece.

In an exciting double overtime thriller, Joe Steinman hit a long-range jumper with 3 seconds remaining to lift the Bender’s Showcase Blue Devils over the Carmody Landscape Cowboys 14-13. Tremain Cox, Erik Sanders, and Jason Hean played hard for the Blue Devils. The Cowboys played with great intensity led by Chris Molster and Travon Mooring.


Running Rebels Have Big Weekend

             The Wizard Painting Yellow Jackets beat the Carmody Landscaping Cowboys in a close 15-13 game. Matthew Duncanson led the Yellow Jackets offensively with 9 points. Amadou Kamara and Jeremy Tammara netted 2 points each. Chris Molster had 6 points for the Cowboys, and Danny Thomas scored 3.

            The Baybrook Remodeling Wildcats beat the Johnnie’s Grille Hoyas 14-10. Mike Charlton and Any Lyons scored 4 each for the Wildcats. James Beardsley had a nice game, with 2 points. Logan Brown and Sean Jefferson had 2 apiece for the Hoyas.

            The WH Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars defeated the Huskies 34-8.  Tomarko Oakes had 8 points, while Alex Serrano scored 6 for the Friars. Dion Waite and Justin Tyree chipped in 2 each. Matt Sager scored 4, and Art Kinder had 2 points for the Huskies.

            In a closely contested match, the Tom & Pat’s Pizza Running Rebels beat the Kelly Construction Scarlet Knights 26-24. Ryan Solkoske and Trevon Smith led the Rebels offensively with 10 points each. Jez Mcuety handled the ball superbly, and shot for 2. Art Kelly had a great offensive game with 15 points. James McCarthy pumped in 9 and also shined defensively.

            The Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels beat the Saley Service Eagles 18-9. Shane Clark led the Tar Heels offensively with 8 points. Chris Williams played a solid defensive game and also netted 4 points. Matt Kabelis handled the ball greatly. Jaden Shirden had 6 points for the Eagles, while CJ Arpino played a strong defensive game and grabbed key rebounds.

            On Sunday February 13, the Tom & Pat’s Pizza Running Rebels kicked things off by beating the Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels 18-14. Trevon Smith led the Rebels offensively with 12 points. Sam Sandowski had 2 points and grabbed key rebounds. Al Dearborn helped out with a strong defensive game. Chris Cavallaro had 4 points for the Tar Heels, while Martin Walker chipped in 2 and had a great game.

The Bender’s Showcase Blue Devils beat the A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine 19-10.Joe Steinman had 13 points, while Sean Morrissey scored 6. Thomas Mazzara had 2 points, and had an outstanding all around game. Eddie Brooks and Jordan Berrios scored 4 each for Green Machine and Branden Coggins netted 2.

The Baybrook Remodeling Wildcats beat the Carmody Landscaping Cowboys 18-2. Any Lyons scored 6 for the Wildcats, followed by Dante Paolucci with 4. Chris Molster and Jake Lentine each netted 1 foul shot for the Cowboys.

The Kelly Construction Scarlet Knights beat the Huskies in a close game of 22-17. James McCarthy and Art Kelly each scored 9 for the Knights. Darren Warren and Joe Santos had 2 apiece. Jamal Pate scored 8 for the Huskies, and Alec Kinder had 5.

The undefeated Wh Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars beat the Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers 24-7. Dion Walte, Bryce Sebastian and Tyler Jones scored 4 points each to help the Friars secure the win. Xavier Gore also chipped in 2 points. Dante Talamelli scored 3 points for the Tigers, and Mark Basta Jr. scored 2.

The Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers beat the Wizard Painting Yellow Jackets 26-6. Kobe Watts led the Hoosiers offensively with 8 points. Jake Lutters popped in 4, while Michael Consorte and Matthew Consorte had 2 each. Matthew Duncanson scored 4 points for the Yellow Jackets, and Jonah Basilicato had 2.

The Saley Service Eagles beat the Johnnie’s Grille Hoyas 19-9. Karl Jackson shot for 10, while Jaden Shirden scored 4. Corey Smith had 5 points for the Hoyas, and Shiv Patel netted a foul shot.


Friars Top Blue Devils - Remain Undefeated

             On Thursday, February 3rd, the 4-3 Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers beat the 2-5 Kelly Construction Scarlet Knights 28 – 15. Austin Ormrod led the Hoosiers with 8 points. Alec Boyd shot for 4 and had a great all around game. Ben Carroll had a strong rebounding game. James McCarthy showed great hustle on the court and had 8 points, while Art Kelly had 6.

The 4-4 Baybrook Remodeling Wildcats beat the 4-4 A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine 18-10. Ant Lyons scored 12 points for the Wildcats, and Quentin Pincus scored 4. Derek Baker played a solid defensive game. Eddie Brooks and Brendin Ospina had 3 points apiece for Green Machine. Jordan Berrios showed good defensive skills.

The weekend competition started on Friday February 4th with the Saley Service Eagles vs. the Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers. The now 7-1 Eagles had a 23-12 win over the 2-6 Tigers. Karl Jackson shined offensively with 15 points, assisted by Nick Ciociola who had 6. Toma O’Brown led the Tigers with 6 points, followed by Chris Wrosek who had 4. Justin Duprey and Zaman Alford played good defensive games.

            In the battle of the undefeated, the 8-0 WH Drug and Alcohol Task Force Friars had a 28-10 victory over the 6-1 Bender’s Showcase Blue Devils. Josh Moncriette shot for 11, while Tomarko Oates had 10 points and sparkled defensively. Dion Watte scored 3 points. For the Blue Devils, Sean Morrissey and Tremaine Cox had 4 points apiece. Erik Sanders played a solid offensive game.

            The 6-2 Huskies beat the 0-8 Johnnie’s Grille Hoyas 25-3. Alec Kindler led the scoreboard with 9 points. Josh Hronis had 6 points and played a great defensive game. Doug Gilford netted 4 points and had a great all-around game. Sean Jefferson had 2 points for the Hoyas, and had a strong passing game. Corey Smith had 1 point, and joe Desisto pulled down key rebounds.

            On Saturday February 5th, the competition heated up. The 4-4 A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine beat the 2-5 Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels 17-25. Eddie Brooks, Brendan Ospinam and Jordan Bernos had 4 points apiece. Harry Febriello scored 3 points and played a good defensive game. Dj Pantry scored 6 for the Tar Heels, followed by Adrian Sandiford with 3. Shane Clark had 2 points and sparkled defensively.

            The  8-0 WH Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars beat the 2-5 Carmody Landscaping Cowboys 34-4. Xavier Gore netted 10, and Bryce Sebastion had 4 points. Tyler Jones had a good offensive game and also scored 3. For the Cowboys, Mike Stewart scored 2; While John McFadden made a foul shot and has an awesome defensive game.

            The 6-2 Huskies beat the 4-4 Baybrook Remodeling Wildcats 12-8. Matt Sager scored 6 points and had a good game. Alec Kinder and Jamal Pate scored 4 each. Quentin Pincus shot the ball superbly with 6 points. Mike Charlton chipped in 2.

            In a game that came down to the last seconds, the 7-1 Bender’s Showcase Blue Devils beat the 4-3 Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers 15-12. Joe Steinman scored 9 points. Erik Sanders hustled at both ends of the court and shot 2, and Jason Hean had a strong defensive game. For the Hoosiers, Austin Ormrod had 5 points while David Christoforo netted 2 and played a good defensive game.

            The 2-5 Wizard Painting Yellow Jackets beat the 2-6 Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers 16 to 6. Amadou Kamara scored 4 points while Owen Phelan and Jonah Basilucato scored 2 apiece.  For the Tigers, Zaman Alford and Dante Talamelli both netted 2.

            The 7-1 Saley Service Eagles beat the 3-3 Tom & Pat’s Running Rebels in a close 18-15 game. Karl Jackson scored 13 for the Eagles, while Nick Ciociola scored 3. Jaden Shirden hustled outstandingly. Trevon Smith led the Running Rebels offensively with 7 points. Ryan Solkoske and Cj Cappola scored 2 each.

            The 2-5 Kelly Construction Scarlet Knights beat the 0-8 Johnnie’s Grille Hoyas in a 20-13 victory. Art Kelly showed great offensive skills with 12 points, while Alex Artaza netted 4. Joe Santos also had a great offensive game. Sean Jefferson led the Hoyas with 6 points, followed by Corey Smith who knocked in 5. Anthony Begley grabbed key rebounds.


 
Blue Devils/Friars Reamin Undefeated

           Close competitive games kept the action sizzling in the gyms of the West Haven Boys Fundamental League.

The 5-0 Bender’s Showcase Blue Devils beat the 2-5 Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels 20-10. Joe Steinman led the Devils offensively with 8 points, followed by Sean Morrissey with 6 who also had 3 key steals in the 3rd quarter. The Blue Devils played good team defense in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Robert Oliverio, Adrian Sandiford, Chris Cavallaro, Shane Clark, and Dj Pantry all had 2 apiece for the Tar Heels.

The 3-3 Baybrook Remodeling Wildcats beat the 2-4 Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers 19-13.Quentin Pincus had 6 points, while Kawon Hicks and Mike Charlton had 4 each. Jalen Jones and Keegan Carew contributed with 2 points apiece. Toma O’Brown had 4 points and pulled down key rebounds in the 4th quarter. Diego Garcia and Zaman Alford chipped in 4 points apiece. Alford also had 3 blocks.

The 3-3 A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine defeated the 1-5 Wizard Painting Yellow Jackets in a closely contested match of 14-11. Brenden Messina scored 4 for the Green Machine. Sebastian Pelos scored 3, and grabbed 3 rebounds in the 3rd quarter. Matthew Ducanson scored 4 points, and had 4 blocks .

The WH Drug & Alcohol Tast Force Friars defeated the 3-2 Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers 32-10 to remain undefeated. Josh Moncriette had a whopping 14 points, and had a great game. Bryce Sebastian and Dion Walte had 6 points each. Tyler Borer netted 2 and had a great offensive game. Jake Lutters scored 3 for the Hoosiers. Ben Carroll shined defensively and also had 2 points.

In a close game, the 5-1 Saley Service Eagles beat the 4-2 Huskies 20-18. Karl Jackson led the eagles offensively with 10 points. Jaden Shirden played a good defensive game, and knocked in 2 points. Matt Sager scored 6 for the Huskies, while Jamal Pate and Doug Gilford each scored 4 points.

Now with a record of  3-2, the Tom & Pat’s Pizza Running Rebels beat the 0-6 Johnnie’s Grille Hoyas in a close 19-14 game. Trevon Smith had an outstanding 15-point effort. Al Dearborn handled the ball superbly, while Sam Sandowski played a solid defensive game. Sean Jefferson shot for 10, leading the Hoyas offensively while Corey Smith netted 4 and exhibited solid dribbling skills.

The 2-4 Carmody Landscaping Cowboys beat the 1-4 Kelly Construction Scarlet Knights in a 22-16 game. Chris Molster shot for 8, while Joe Stacey netted 6 and sparkled defensively. Johan Greene and John McFadden each scored 4. Art Kelly and Alex Artaza each dropped in 4 for the Knights. Joe Santos kept control of the ball.


Week 3-4

West Haven Fundamental Basketball Completes Full Week of Hoops

Week 3 of West Haven Fundamental Basketball League action heated up on the court.
During Wednesday night play, the Baybrook Remodeling Wildcats beat the Wizard Painting Yellow Jackets 11 -9. Mike Charlton had a total of 5 points, and showed great dribbling skills. Derek Baker and Ant Lyans had a total of 4 points. Amadou Kamara, Jeremy Tammara, David O’Brien, and Johah Basilicato all had 2 points apiece for the Yellow Jackets.
            The WH Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars took home another win and beat the Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels 28 – 14. Bryce Sebastian and Josh Moncriette each had 8 points, leading the Friars offensively. Xavier Gore also contributed with 4 points. Chris Williams scored all 14 points for the Tar Heels.  Shane Clark played solid defense.
            On Friday, December 17th, the Saley Service Eagles beat A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine in a close match 16-12. Karl Jackson shot for 7 points, assisted by Brett Gradoia who had excellent passing, and Tyler Moscato who contibuted a lot defensively. For the Green Machine, Eddie Brooks, Sebastian Pelos, and Jake Ludington all shot for 4 points each. Jordan Berrios had a great defensive game.
            On Saturday, December 18th, the Saley Service Eagles slid by to defeat the Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers in an intensely played game 20 to 18. Leading the Eagles offensively was Karl Jackson with 7 points, followed by Victor Rios with 5, and Nick Ciociola with 3. On the Hoosiers, Austin Ormrod and David Christoforo each netted 6 points. Jake Lutters assisted with 4 points.
            In another closely contested match, A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine beat the Kelly Construction Scarlet Knights 23 to 22. Eddie Brooks contributed 13 big  points for the Green Machine, while Harry Febriello knocked in 4 points as well. Art Kelly had 13 points, and James McCarthy had 10 and led the Scarlet Knights offensively.
            The Sandy’s Kitchen Cowboys were victorious defeating the Johnnie’s Grille Hoyas 24 to 14. Chris Molster had 10 points for the Cowboys, while Mike Stewart had 4. Sean Jefferson led the Hoyas with 11 points.
             The WH Italian American Association Huskies defeated the Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels 22-13 on Saturday’s game. Doug Gilford connectd for 8 and Jamal Pate scored 6, while Kalassa Mungo shined defensively. Shane Clark led the Tarheels with 6 points and made all of his foul shots. Dj Pantry, Adrian Sandiford, and Isiaiah Watts each had 2 points apiece.
            The Bender’s Showroom Blue Devils were victorious over the Baybrook Remodeling Wildcats with a 22-14 win. Joe Steinman knocked in 12 points. Tremaine Cox scored 6 and grabbed key rebounds. Eric Sanders led a strong defense. For the Wildcats, Dante Paolucci had 6 points. Derek Baker showed great passing skills as well.

Toma O’Brown had 10 points, with an all- around great game! Trey Lewis had 6 points, followed by Zaman Alford and Justin Duprey, with 2 apeice.

Clock Starts On WH Fundamental League’s 40th Season

              The West Haven Fundamental Boys Basketball League Tipped off it’s 2nd week of action on Saturday, December 11, 2010.
            In a closely contested match, the Bender’s Showroom Blue Devils outlasted the Saley Service Eagles 16 to 13. Joe Steinmen led the Devils offense with 10 points. Tremain Cox and Matt Moody also shined offensively. Nick Ciociola shipped in 6 points for the Eagles. Jason Philbrick led the Eagles attacking defense.
            The Wizard Painting Yellow Jackets defeated the Kelly Construction Scarlet Knights 23 to 14. Matt Duncansan led the Yellow Jackets offensively with a sizzling 14 points. Jeremy Tammara also contributed to the action with 3 points. 5 players scored for the Scarlet Knights, led by Art Kelly who connected on 6 points.
            The WH Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars beat the Baybrook Remodeling Wildcats30 to 11. Josh Moncriette led the Friars with 14 points; followed by Bryce Sebastian who netted 8.Quentin Pincus had 5 points for the Wildcats. Mike Charlton, Jr., James Beardsley, and Keegan Carew had a combined total of 6.
            The  Bender Plumbing Huskies were victorious defeating the Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers 20 to 10. Jamal Pate scored 8 points, and Alec Kinder scored 6. In addition, Alec Kinder shined defensively with 3 blocks.  Zaman Alford and Dante Talamelli each had 4 apiece, leading the Tigers offensively. Justin Duprey contributed with 2 points.
            Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels had a 19 – 16 victory over the Carmody Landscaping Cowboys.  DJ Pantry scored 8 points, and dribbled fantastically. Shane Clark added 5 points while Chris Williams, Jordan Swint, and Martin Walker provided 2 each.  Danny Thomas led the Cowboys with 5 points.  Chris Mulster had a good defensive game, and also scored 2 points.
The Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers downed The Johnnie’s Grille Hoyas in a close 19-14 game. Atustin Ormrod shot for 5 points, while Kobe Watts scored 4 and added to the win with great dribbling. Raymond Price also scored 4 points, helping the Hoosiers seal their victory. Sean Jefferson showcased an all-around terrific game for the Hoyas, including a team-high of 12 points.
            In a down-to-the-wire contest, the Tom & Pat’s Pizza Running Rebels squeaked by to defeat the A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine 16 to 15. Trevon Smith showed solid dribbling skills and also knocked in 6 points. Sebastian Pelos backed up a strong defensive performance, and also had 10 points. Brenden Messina did a good job handling the ball for the Green Machines.
