Cowboys Shoot Down Eagles
The second week of The West Haven Fundamental Boys Basketball saw the Carmody Landscape Cowboys move to 2-0 after defeating the Saley Service Eagles 22-7. The Cowboys expanded their 4-3 by outscoring the Eagles 4-0 in the second quarter with baskets from Takoda McFadden and Jake Lentine, who finished with six. Vincent Martinez took over in the second have and finished with six points for the Cowboys. The Eagles were led by Jaden Shirden who netted three, Kyle Philbrick and J’Quan Clarke each added a basket. The Eagles are now 1-1.
The Sandy’s Kitchen Tar Heels moved to 1-1 with a 24-17 win over the 0-2 Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers. The Tigers were led by Justin Duprey (6) and Dante Talamelli (4). Defensively Jayden Johnson stood out for the Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers. For the Heels Dale Pantry (9), Antonio Brown (5), Matt Kabelis (4), and Sheldon Ferguson (4) provided all the offense needed.
The Johnnies Grille Hoyas kept pace with four others teams and moved to 2-0 with a convincing win over the Bender Showroom Blue Devils with the final score 12-4. The Hoyas Eli Blackwell netted four, and Tremayne Ferguson added three. For the Blue Devils Mathew Moody scored two baskets, with assists from Jason Heon and Nasier Gibbs. The Blue Devils will seek their first win next week against Tigers.
The Baybrook Remodelers Wildcats stormed out to an early lead and never looked back moving to 2-0 against the A-Plus Plumbing Green Machine 20-12. The Plumbers had an outstanding performance from Jordan Berrios (6) and Jake Luddington (4). The Wildcats had four players get into the scoring including Anthony Lyons which led all scorers with (7). Greg Baker and Jerik Rose helped the Wildcats in the rebound department.
The West Haven Drug and Alcohol Task Force led the league in scoring for the second week in a row with 25 points. The Friars remained undefeated behind Bryce Sebastian (8) and Tamakro Oaks. Victor Federico played well defensively. The West Haven Italian American Association Huskies fell to 0-2 but had great effort from Alec Kinder (5) and James Weber getting two assists.
The Zuppardi’s Hoosiers another undefeated team defeated the Kelly Construction Scarlet Knights who fell to 0-2. For the Hoosiers Kobe Watts (5), Jake Lutters (4), and Dave Christoforo (3) was enough to stop the explosive Darren Warren who scored 10 for the Knights. Joe Santos and Finn Geagan-Chavez played hard defensively in the loss.
Tom & Pats Pizza Running Rebels picked up their first over The Wizard Painting Yellow Jackets who are still winless. The Jackets Jonah Basillicato scored three and Amados Kamara added one. The Rebels who won 27-6 had eight players score including Henry Smith’s game leading eight. Al Dearborn, Oquavan Callahan, and Jezmond McVety each added a basket.
