Improved Hoosiers Defeat Hoyas Week #8
The Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers won an exciting contest against the Overhead Door Hoyas 21-18. The Hoosiers offensive punch came from Nick DeMaio’s game high thirteen points, while Ryan Weber, Jamel Lawhorn, and Alex Tejero each added a basket. The Hoosiers are now a strong 6-2. The Hoyas who fell to 3-5, were led by Justin Miller who scored all eight of his points in the second quarter. Ryan Smith added six and Keanu Dos a bucket in the loss. The WH Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars continued to stifle teams with defense as they moved to 8-0, and remained the only undefeated team in the league, defeating the Carmody Landscaping Cowboys 18-5. The Friars had plenty of players score including a bucket from Xavier Gore, Kevin Hackley, and Tamarko Oakes. The Cowboys who fell to 1-7 were led by Chris Molster’s four points and Dylan Molster’s two assists. The Kids Club Daycare Green Machine continued their winning ways in an 18-10 win over the 3-5 HD Wilson Scarlet Knights. The Knights kept close through three quarters with a huge game from James McCarthy who scored four points and played intensive defensive. Tim Lovallo and Ryan Pickering each added a basket for the Knights. The Green machine captains, Dan Prendergast, Adrian Urbina, and Michael DeMartino, led the Green machine down the stretch with key steals and rebounds. Offensively it was Lorenzo Davis’s six points who led the way to move the Green Machine to 6-2. The Saley Service Eagles came from behind to defeat a feisty Impact BT Blue Devils 26-21. The Eagles who behind for three quarters used Jaedin Falcone’s five fourth quarter points and three steals to seal the victory. Falcone finished with nine, while the other captain Big D Gee added six points. The Blue Devils who controlled the pace were led by Brandon Crandell’s eight points. Johnnie Amendola and Jamie Russo each added four points for the Devils. Tom & Pat’s Pizza Running Rebels also came from behind to defeat the Nutmeg Sports Tigers 19-18. The Tigers Matt Wielk and Brandon Williams each had four points, as the team fell to 5-3. The Running Rebels used Mustopha Heron’s eleven points, all in the final seven minutes to come from behind and move to 7-1. TJ Andrews and Sebastien Paulemon each went 2-2 from the line for the Rebels. The Bender Showroom Huskies defeated the WH Italian Civic Association Yellow Jackets 22-17. As the Huskies moved to 2-6 the Yellow Jackets fell to the same record. The Huskies Jonathon Newton led the team with eight, while Cooper Wesson added two. For the Jackets it was Devante O’Gilvie who scored eight with support from Alex Rucker’s four. The two expansion teams battled with the Scoreboard Café Tar Heels coming out as victors 26-5. Nate Small had a game high six points, and Shane Clarke added five. The Tar Heels moved to 2-6. The Clear View Wealth Management Wildcats Derek baker scored a bucket and Dante Paolucci added three points. The Wildcats are 0-8.

Davis Provides Ammunition for Green Machine Week #7
The Kids Club Daycare Green Machine played in yet another tight game, this time defeating ImpactBT Blue Devils 12-10. The Machine’s Lorenzo Davis provided the offensive punch with five points, while Terell Antunes added four. For the Devils Brandon Crandell scored five and Jamie Russo added three. The Green Machine moved to 5-2 while the Devils fell to 4-3. The Bender Showroom Huskies took a lead into the fourth quarter against the undefeated WH Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars. The Friars behind huge fourth quarter points from Jamal Singleton (4), Jabari Dalvz (4), and Mike Smith (2) cam e from behind and defeated the Huskies 20-17. Singleton led the Friars with a game high twelve points. The Friars stand alone in first place at 7-0. For the 1-6 Huskies Corey Coleman came up big with a fourth quarter basket of his own, while Shawn Rucker added five and Jonathon Newton four. The Overhead Door Hoyas continued a three game win streak defeating the HD Wilson Scarlet Knights 20-18 in overtime. In a game that went back and fourth with seven lead changes Chris Murico sealed the victory in overtime. Murcio and Justin Miller both scored six points in the victory. The Knights Ryan Pickering scored nine points all coming in the second half. Tim McCarthy went 1-2 from the foul line in the overtime loss. Both teams are now 3-4. The Nutmeg Sports Tigers are now 5-2 after defeating the 1-6 Scoreboard Café Tar Heels 29-9. Shane Clarke and Sal Russo led the Heels with five and four respectively. The Tigers Armando DeChalus scored all seven of his points in the first quarter, Toma Brown had a game high eight, which all came in the second half, and Cameron DeChalus added six points. The Rebels Donavan Foster scored ten points, Sebastian Paulemon two, and Mustopha Heron fifteen. The Yellow Jackets Alex Rucker scored twelve, Balya Akson two, and Charlie Castro two. The Carmody Landscaping Cowboys fell to 1-6, as they were defeated by the Saley Service Eagles 36-10. The Boys Chris Molster and Mark Goodwin each scored four. The Eagles saw eight players reach the scorebook with Brandon Reilly providing five, Karl Jackson six, and Ezra Gee two. The Eagles kept pace with the Rebels at 6-1 and tied for second place.

Friars Shoot Down Eagles
Week #6 The WH Drug & Alcohol Task Force Friars dominated the fourth quarter to defeat the Saley Service Eagles 18-17, and remain the only undefeated team in the league. The Friars Jamal Singleton scored all six of his points late in the game. The Friars found themselves down 17-11 before scoring the last eight points of the game. Brandon Sebastian had four points and Jabari Dalvz two for the victors. The Friars are now 6-0. The Eagles who fell into a tie for second place are now 5-1. The Eagles were led by Jaedin Falcone six, D’Mahdness Failey two, and Brandon Reilly two. The Tom & Pat’s Pizza Running Rebels moved up into a tie for second place by defeating the Bender Showroom Huskies 9-6 in overtime. The Huskies Joseph Consorte hit a 17’ jumper with less than a second left in the first half. Shawn Rucker led the way for the Huskies with three points in the loss. The Running Rebels Juan Jimenez scored all four of his points from the line, while TJ Andrews also added four. The Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers defeated the Zuppardi’s Pizza Hoosiers 16-13, the both teams now at 4-2. The Tigers Cameron DeChalus scored four points, Aaron Page three, and Toma Brown two. The Hoosiers Anthony Senior had four points, Austin Ormrod two, and Ryan Weber three. HD Wilson Printers Scarlet Knights moved to .500 (3-3) as they defeated the Clear View Wealth Management Wildcats 19-5. The Wildcats (0-6) Patrick Hall scored two points in the loss. Anthony Lyons went 1-4 from the line for the Cats. The Knights saw the Pickering brothers combine for ten points (Conor 4 and Ryan 6), while Tim Lovallo chipped in four points. Stage Set For Friars & Eagles Week #4 & 5
The Friars and Eagles set the stage for the only two undefeated teams to play Saturday 8:00 @ Washington School. Both teams went 2-0, last week, to increase their records to 5-0. The Friars outlasted the Green Machine and pulled away with a few minutes left in the game. The Green Machine was once again led by Lorenzo Davis who collected eleven points. On defense Mark Clinton and James Child were strong in the loss. The Friars had a balanced offense attack, with Jamal Singleton and Brandon Sebastian each scoring seven. Mike Smith added three and help frustrate the Green Machine offense. The Green Machine fell to 3-2. The Eagles used Eddie Moran’s ten points and captain “Big D” Gee’s six to upend the Huskies 23-14. On defense CJ Arpino shined for the winning team. The Huskies who are 1-4, received scoring from Saiyir Singleton’s six and Joseph Consortes’ two. The Hoosier’s remained one game behind as the defeated the Yellow Jackets 23-11, the Jackets fell to 1-4. The Hoosiers Nick DeMaio led the way with six and was supported by James Campbell and Alec Boyd. The Yellow Jackets Charlie Castro scored six and Alex Rucker netted three. The Blue Devils also move to 4-1 defeating the Wildcats 23-18. In the loss Dante Paolucci had a career high sixteen points with assists from Aaron Kirby and Anthony Lyons. Paolucci’s performance fell just short of the Blue Devils who had eleven from Jamie Russo and four from Mike Pacapelli, Erik Sanders, and Brandon Crandell. The Wildcats who continued to improve on offense are 0-5. The running Rebels who are the other 4-1 team received a monster performance from Mustopha Heron who scored a league high seventeen points. Sebastien Paulemon added four and Kyle O’Keefe two in the win. The Tar Heels are 1-4 and saw Shane Clarke score four and Chris Flaherty one. The Tigers moved to 3-2 after starting the season 0-2 and had a well balanced offense attack. None players scored including four points from the following players; Armando DeChalus, Toma Brown, Cameron DeChalus, and Aaron Page. The Scarlet Knights were paced by the Pickering brothers, Conor scoring six and Ryan two. The Knights fell to 2-3. The Hoyas picked up their first win (1-4), while the Cowboys fell to the same record. The Cowboys Tyker Thomas, Dylan Molster, and Mark Goodwin each scored two for the Boys. The Hoyas Chris Murcio and Sean Jefferson each scored ten points to lead the way.

Green Machine Comeback Falls Short Week #3 The 2009 portion of the West Haven Fundamental Basketball schedule started with the most exciting game of the young season. The Green Machine scored ten fourth quarter points to take a lead on the Eagles with less than one minute left. The Green Machine got four points from both Lorenzo Davis and Michael DeMartino all in that fourth quarter. Terell Antunes added four in the third quarter for the Green Machine. The Eagles “Big D” Gee scored the winning basket with less than thirty seconds left. The Eagles saw a strong effort from Bobby Hawkins who helped the Eagles jump out to a 10-3 halftime lead. The Eagles are 3-0 while the Green Machine dropped to 2-1. The Friars remained the only other undefeated team after their 17-8 victory over the Hoyas. The Friars defense has allowed a stunning 20 points through three games, clearly the best in the league. The defense was led by Brandon Sebastian, Jordan Island, and Jalon Gore. Bruce Sebastian had 4 points for the Friars while his brother led the team with six points. The Hoyas had baskets from Chris Murico, Tyrell Frazier, and Jason Frazer. The Hoyas are 0-3, the Friars 3-0. The Scarlet Knights moved to 2-1 with a 16-8 victory over the Yellow Jackets. The Jackets Charlie Castro had five and Nick Rivera two. The Scarlet Knights had a balanced attack with Brandon Argus leading the way (6), Conor Pickering added two and Art Kelly four. The Yellow Jackets are 1-2. The Blue Devils feel from the undefeated rankings (2-1) while the Tigers picked up win number one (1-2), with a 27-6 win. The Blue Devils Jamie Russo continued to look solid with 2 points; both John Steinman and Sean Morrissey made a bucket in the loss. The DeChalus brothers led the way for the Tigers with Armando scoring seven points and Cameron adding four. The Cowboys also picked up their first win (1-2), with great efforts from Chris Molster (6), Derrick McLaughn (4), and Joe Stacey (3). The Wildcats looked very impressive in the 15-11 loss. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead, then fell behind and had to battle back before just falling short. The Wildcats (0-3) Dante Paolucci had a game high six points and was supported by Derek Baker’s two points, and Ignacio Martinez’s two. The Hoosiers fell to 2-1 after the Running Rebels (2-1) got the best of them 26-10. The Running Rebels Mustopha Heron had league high 16 points, with Brett McDermott getting most of the assists. Al Anderson and Kyle O’Keefe looked strong for the Running Rebels. The Hoosiers played the Running Rebels tough, as the game was much closer than the score indicated. The Hoosiers Nick DeMaio and Anthony Senior each had four points. Defensively David Christoforo and BJ Lasanga were the leaders. The expansion team Tar Heels got their first win (1-2) beating the Huskies 10-6. The Tar Heels Rashad Peters and Collin Larobelli each had four points, while Sal Russo added the other two. Ryan Solkoske and Chris Flaherty’s defensive efforts helped the Tar Heels clinch their first win. The Huskies Shawn Rucker netted four points and Andre Vella two, while Joseph Consorte provided most of the rebounding. Running Rebels Suffer First Loss in Over a Year

The Blue Devils finished off the Tom & Pats Running Rebels 23-18, with help from TJ Brown’s two points and Joe Steinman’s four points. The Running Rebels were led by TJ Andrews four points, and had seven players each scoring a basket including Devin Snipes and Kyle O’Keefe. The Running Rebels fell to 1-1 while the Blue Devils stayed undefeated at 2-0. The West Haven Drug & Task Force Friars also stayed unbeaten at 2-0 with Jamal Singleton & Jabari Dalvz each scoring four. Mike Smith went 2-2 on his foul shots to help lead the Friars past the 0-2 Nutmeg Sports Tigers. The Tigers got baskets from Matt Wielk, Tristan Perez, and Brandon Williams, with the Friars winning 19-6. The Kids Club Daycare Green Machine matched the Friars and Blue Devils with a victory over the Overhead Door Hoyas 18-12. The Hoyas were paced by Chris Murcio and Tyrell Vereen each scoring four points. The Hoyas had a strong defensive effort by Sean Jefferson. In the victory the Green Machine had six players getting onto the scoring column captain Michael DiMartino leading the way with six points. The Huskies were led by Shaun Rucker 6 points while Corey Coleman chipped in 4 to finalize the offense. The Huskies Jonathon Newton and Josh Hronis had stellar defensive efforts. The Hoyas offense was provided by Chris Murico who scored all 9 points, while the defense was led by Ryan Smith, Sean Jefferson, and Mario Klaunis. The second match up at Washington saw the Saley Service Eagles outscore the Nutmeg Sportswear Tigers. The Tigers scoring came from Armando Dechalus (2), Nathan Page (2), Aaron Page (2), and Tristan Perez (11). The Tigers saw strong defense from Jordan Rivera and Matt Wielk. The Eagles 23 points were supplied by Eddie Moran (8), Jaedin Falcone (6), Big “D” Gee (6), and Brandon Reilley’s (1). The defensive efforts came from Bobby Hawkins and D’Mahdnes Failey.
